Day 3 – The adVANture begins!

Our home on wheels for the next week!
West Coast here we come!

One stop at Circle K for chicken fillet rolls, one greasy nap for Hads, and we found ourselves in Galway. It was raining but we decided to make the most of it and explore on foot anyways.

Busy streets at 6pm

Jake sat for a conversation with Irish writer Oscar Wilde and Estonian writer Eduard Vilde. Wilde was famous for challenging Victorian norms with his wit and satire, while Vilde wrote about inequality and the struggles of everyday people. The two never actually met—the sculpture simply imagines the conversation they might have had.

Little does Hadleigh know, the writing on the wall above Lazlo Jewellers is foreshadowing a major event to come tomorrow!

Quay Street and High Street offered lots of liveliness despite the rain.

After failing to find seating for two at several restaurants, we finally landed at The Skeff. Originally a grand home built in 1641, then converted into a hotel in 1850, and now a happening bar and restaurant with live music. We couldn’t believe how unassuming

A quick stop at Lidl supermarket before setting off to our remote campsite.

Very few street lights but plenty of reflectors on this section of the country “racetrack.”

After passing several quaint country homes, we drove through about 3km of seemingly ancient stonewalls and arrived at a breathtaking spot!

This sign (Gaelic) gave us a brief scare that camping is prohibited but it simply says no dumping. €5000 euro fine! No dumping here!

As we head to bed, a few passing showers and very high winds but we’re very thankful to have this place all to ourselves. We can’t wait to take in our surroundings in the morning!

This wraps up Tuesday’s travels. Due to limited cell service and being busy, we are posting today (Wednesday) but hope to get up to speed on day-of posts going forward!
